Things You Can Do at Home

Time is precious at school and at your home!

Reading: I strongly encourage families to read together. Second graders should be reading OR be read to for 20 minutes every day. This link provides information as to why 20 minutes a day AND how to get that done!

Spelling/word work: The home-school connection packet gives great ideas on how to practice the spelling patterns. I would HIGHLY ENCOURAGE you to help them collect more words than just in the home-school connection packet. My focus is not on memorizing a set list of words, but expanding that to the spelling pattern.

Science or Social Studies: I will be including opportunities throughout the year for students/families to do some extra study or some fun activities: animal report, STEM Fair, phases of moon are just some examples.
