School Update:  Interventions – Megan Clark, Instructional Coach Megan discussed the responsibilities of the instructional assistants, which interventions/extensions that they teach, and how important they are to our school.  She presented the different intervention programs and explained what they focus on with the students as well as the number of students in each intervention school-wide.

Tawnicia explained how important the instructional assistants are to the teachers and how hard it would be if teachers didn’t have their support.

Adrianne stated that she has seen a lot of improvement with her own child as he has learned the 95% core program.  She also explained that as one of our subs she feels that the program is very beneficial to the students.   Kim explained how system-wide we are seeing an increase in the number of students in upper grades that don’t need reading support.  In 6th grade, the students that are struggling in reading are either new to the school, or new to the country.  We are seeing great results and a lot of progress!

Safety & Security Items: None stated

Other? – Attendance Concerns Adrianne brought up the attendance information she had reviewed on Data Gateway and the School Report Card.   Concerns about attendance from the School Report Card were addressed.  We discussed the differences between the attendance policy pre-CoVid and post-Covid.  The lack of busing around the Brough Trailer Park, the north side of Lion’s Park, and the Columbia Lane areas.  We discussed the frustration teachers feel when students don’t come to school, especially with state tests that don’t take into consideration the student’s lack of attendance in the test results.  We also discussed how the Family Advocate that is assigned to our school helps us reach out to families that are struggling with attendance. Kim will continue to talk with the district about adding a bus stop to that area.

Next Month’s Meeting:  February 4th at 7:00am via Zoom 2025-2026 plan discussion

Goals & Funding for 2024-2025 Our goal for the 2024-2025 school year is that 80% of Kindergarten through 6th-grade students will make typical or above progress on the Acadience Pathways of Progress (POP) End of the Year (EOY) assessment. The Acadience assessment helps teachers determine how students are performing on essential reading skills. These critical reading skills include phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension.   Our goal for the 2024-2025 school year is that students in 3rd through 6th grade will increase their math scores by 3%, and students in 4th through 6th grade will increase their science scores by 3% as measured by the end-of-year RISE test data.

Funding Total:  $97,393.31 Para-educators will provide remediation and extensions for our Kindergarten through 6th-grade students.
