The council will review websites for training and questions.
Posted on Website, Review Kim will update the document and post it on the website after the council reviews it.
This is the second year for Barbie Osorio DeSoto, Dorie Kim, and Cameron Waqa. We had three open parent seats for the 2024-2025 school year. During the two-week open period from September 1 to September 13, no parents expressed interest in serving on the council, so an election was not held (Election dates were Sept. 16-18).
Employee Member:
The council agreed that the members and terms were correct.
Adrianne and Barbie were nominated for chair and vice-chair positions. Both agreed they would be willing to serve. Adrianne, as chair, was seconded by Dorie. Barbie, as vice-chair, was seconded by Adrianne. All are in favor of Adrianne and Barbie serving as chair and vice-chair. None are opposed.
The council is interested in having JP Pontius come and present about internet filtering. Kim will reach out to JP and schedule a training for the council.
Kim discussed the above school updates.
Barbie is putting together a plan for 1460 North (i.e., diagonal parking, parking on the north/south side of the street on every block, parking 10-15 feet away from stop signs, etc.). Barbie will share her plan with the council.
Kim discussed the new School Guardian program with the council. The council wanted to know what they could do to address concerns about the program, and they were encouraged to contact their legislators. Dorie provided the council with the following information:
Our goal for the 2024-2025 school year is that 80% of Kindergarten through 6th-grade students will make typical or above progress on the Acadience Pathways of Progress (POP) End of the Year (EOY) assessment. The Acadience assessment helps teachers determine how students are performing on essential reading skills. These critical reading skills include phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension.
Our goal for the 2024-2025 school year is that students in 3rd through 6th grade will increase their math scores by 3%, and students in 4th through 6th grade will increase their science scores by 3% as measured by the endof-year RISE test data.
Funding Total: $97,393.31
Para-educators will provide remediation and extensions for our Kindergarten through 6th-grade students. Reviewed goals, funding, and where the money will be spent.
The council would like more information on interventions and data on student performance. Kim will contact Megan Clark and have her present to the council.
