Hello Westridge Parents,
Our social worker is offering the Wellness Group again this year. The group is based on a curriculum developed by TRAILS, a University of Michigan Depression Center program, and will teach your child proven skills for coping with and managing strong or difficult emotions. To learn more about TRAILS, please visit TRAILStoWellness.org.
Over the course of 10 sessions, students will learn about:
Emotions, including anxiety, anger, sadness, and low mood How thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected Relaxation and mindfulness skills Automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) and how we can reframe them into helpful thoughts How getting active improves our mood How facing our fears helps us cope with anxiety and overcome avoidance If you would like for your child to participate in this group, please complete this google form then a permission slip will be sent home with your child. If you have any questions about the group or other social/emotional supports available at Westridge, please contact Callie Gallacher at calliega@provo.edu. Thanks for your support! Go Wildcats! Nuestra rabajadora social está ofreciendo el Grupo de Bienestar de nuevo este año. El grupo está basado en un plan de estudios desarrollado por TRAILS, un programa del Centro de Depresión de la Universidad de Michigan, y le enseñará a su hijo habilidades comprobadas para enfrentar y manejar emociones fuertes o difíciles. Para saber más sobre TRAILS, visite TRAILStoWellness.org.
