Beginning of the Year Important Information
If you need to contact me, please email firstname.lastname@example.org as I check my email multiple times a day. Also, you can call the school at (801-374-4870) or text, or use Class Dojo(see below)
- I am happy to talk with you about your child at any time. However, out of respect for my students’ privacy, I do not discuss student progress when I have other students in the classroom. If you wish to discuss your child’s progress, please email or message me to schedule a conference.
This year I’m using Class Dojo to help keep you informed about classroom activities and assignments. Class Dojo is a free service that lets me send quick messages via text, push notifications, or email to everyone involved with the class.
Many of you are already signed up for Class Dojo because one of your student’s teachers from a pervious year invited you. If this is true for you, please make sure you have the app downloaded and sign in.
If you have not had a teacher use Class Dojo before, I have already sent you and invitation either to your phone through text message, or to the email address the school has on file, Please check your messages for this invitation. Let me know if you need the invitation sent again, or if there are other guardians that should also receive and invitation.
I will send class updates and reminders regularly through Class Dojo. I will also send individual messages about your student and you can message me as well.
My favorite feature of Class Dojo is the Student Portfolios. Periodically, you will receive a Dojo alert that your student has added something to their portfolio. You will then get to view some of your student’s classwork and see what we are learning and working on that day. I usually use the video option, so expect to see short video your child will make explaining something they recently learned. Portfolio submissions are private between you, your student, and me. Other parents and students do not see portfolio assignments.
