Hello Westridge Parents!

Below is a message from our school librarian.  

I hope your students are enjoying their library time each week and coming home with books they’re excited to read. I have a request for you! Could you send with your students any empty boxes that are around or less than 4″ deep? Some examples are the big boxes from Costco of fruit snacks, Rice Krispy treats, and Oreos. I will use them to make the books more accessible (closer) to the students on the shelves.

We are wrapping up our Provo Reads program. I am so proud of all the students who participated! Our school has logged over 10,000 books read! We will be holding our raffle for the grand prizes on Friday, Jan. 27, so let your students know they have until then to record their books and turn in raffle tickets. There will be one grand prize winner for each grade. 

Also, our next book fair is coming up on Jan. 30. We’d love some help! Each volunteer gets a coupon for $5 to use at the fair. See the PTO section of this Email to sign-up to help. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at emilyjo@provo.edu 

Just a reminder that the first bell rings at 8:35am. We need everyone lined up with their class at 8:35am so the teachers can bring the students into the school at 8:40 am. We appreciate your help in getting your children to school on time each day.

Thank you for sending your children to school with coats and winter clothing every day. It makes recess time more enjoyable when the students are prepared for the weather.

Connecting Parents to Westridge (information from Westridge’s PTO) 

We need volunteers to help with the Book Fair, Candy Grams, and treats for the teachers & staff.  Please use the following links to sign-up.  We would love your help!  

Book Fair: sign up here   Candy Grams:  sign up here   Faculty & Staff Treats: sign up here Clarification about Ski School:  For those of you who are interested in ski/snowboard school at Sundance, there is still time to sign up.  The registration deadline is today, Jan. 8, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Many of you have expressed interest in the program but haven’t yet registered.  Please note that you are not guaranteed a spot until you have completed your registration.  Please contact Heather Dabling (h_dabling@msn.com) if you have questions.  The dates for our program will be Feb. 16, Mar. 2, Mar. 9, and Mar. 16.  We will leave Westridge around 12:30pm and return around 5:00pm. 

Birthdays – Remind your kiddos if they have a birthday this month to check the bulletin board in the east hall for their name.  They can then take that to the office for a special birthday treat. 

School Shirts – If you are new to the school and your child has yet to receive a Westridge t-shirt, please get in touch with us via Email with a way they have been respectful, responsible, or safe, and we will make sure they get one.
