The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) is sharing the attached information with K-12 schools throughout the state through the school nurse network. It is also being shared with local public health departments who may also reach out to schools. There are, so far, no reported cases of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in Utah. This is not to say there won’t be in the future. The symptoms are similar to seasonal influenza (cough, fever, shortness of breath). If you have these symptoms and have been to, or been in contact with someone who was recently in mainland China, please Limit exposure to other people. Notify your healthcare provider of the symptoms and have a travel history available. If you have an ill student or staff member with a personal travel history or contact with someone who has been to China, contact UDOH at 1-888-EPI-UTAH (374-8824). Reduce your personal risk by avoiding contact with anyone with flu-like symptoms, wash or sanitize your hands often, cover your nose and mouth when sneezing.
