Where did you grow up? A small town named Abingdon, Virginia

What is your favorite food?  I love curry!

What is your least favorite food?  Eggplant

What is something unique or surprising about you?  I am fascinated by Japan and it’s culture. I took Japanese classes for about a year and learned their phonetic alphabets, Hiragana & Katakana. Someday I hope to start again, and learn some Kanji as well!

What is your favorite subject to teach?  Reading.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?  I really loved my American History teacher my senior year of high school. She had a passion for history and for teaching, and it showed in her lessons. Her enthusiasm during her classes was contagious!

Why did you choose to be a teacher?  I have always enjoyed school ever since I was young, and as an adult I have always enjoyed working with children. I love seeing how much they grow and change over the course of a year, and getting to build relationships with them.

What would you like your students to remember this year?  If they forget everything else, I hope they will remember that I thought they were amazing in 1st grade, that I enjoyed being with them every day and encouraging them to always do their best.
