Provo City School District

Westridge Elementary School

Hello Westridge Parents!

A few weeks ago, an email was sent to you about the security measures that Provo City School District is implementing this year.  Starting Thursday, October 6, our front vestibule will be locked.  To enter the building, ALL parents/guardians and visitors must press the call button on the east wall.  The secretaries will greet you, ask you to identify yourself, and state the reason for your visit.  The secretaries will then unlock the doors and ask that you go to the office to receive a visitor badge.

Later this month, please watch for our front vestibule to be updated with the new Raptor Visitor Management System.  Once that is in place, you’ll need to bring a government ID to school each time you want to enter the building.  Please read the information below and watch the video to learn more about the new check-in/check-out system the district is installing at Westridge.

Raptor Visitor Management System

A secure vestibule (also referred to as a visitor management system) is a secured space between two sets of doors which serves as a check-in area.  Once a visitor has checked in and been identified as an authorized visitor, the doors from the vestibule area to the school are unlocked.  This added layer of security will increase and strengthen school safety.

This procedure will require visitors, including parents/guardians, to check in at an electronic kiosk upon arrival.  All visitors will need to follow these steps:

Go directly to the visitor management kiosk on the vestibule’s right-hand side. Bring a government-issued ID.  (If a visitor forgets to bring a government-issued ID, the visitor can press the call button near the kiosk to speak directly to a secretary for assistance). Select English or Spanish by clicking the language option at the top right-hand corner of the screen.                                                                                                        Scan government-issued ID barcode.  The first time using the system, the kiosk will take a photo of the visitor to use as a visitor badge.  After taking the picture, the visitor will be prompted to the next step. Then, the visitor should select the reason for visiting or identify the destination within the school.  When the system confirms your visitor status, a visitor badge will print in the main office.  Visitors must wear a badge at all times while on school grounds. Once the visitor has completed these steps, the visitor will need to press the call button near the kiosk.  The secretary will then unlock the door, and the visitor may proceed to pick up the visitor badge from the main office.  The visitor badge will include the visitor’s name, photo, date, time of entry, and destination within the school.  The visitor management system will not use visitor information for any other purpose other than school safety reasons. When the visitor is finished, the visitor should return to the main office to hand in the visitor badge to the secretary.  The visitor should then directly go to the kiosk in the secure vestibule to check out by re-scanning the government-issued ID. Please watch the video below to learn more about the new Visitor Management System.

Connecting Parents to Westridge (information from Westridge’s PTO)

Make sure you are saving all your soft household donations. We will have a Uhaul at the school all day on October 6 to collect them for our clothing fundraiser.  Remind your kiddos if they have a birthday this month to check the bulletin board in the east hall for their name. They can then take that to the office for a special birthday treat. If you are new to the school and your child has yet to receive a Westridge t-shirt please reach out to us via email with a way they have been respectful, responsible, or safe, and we will make sure they get one.
